Head coach of the Black Stars B, Maxwell Konadu, revealed that he never knew Medeama’s versatile Justice Blay is capable of playing at the right back position.
19 players took part in Black Stars B training on Thursday, September 7, at the Sekondi Sports Stadium – Justice Blay who was the 19th player was made to leave camp after the training, remaining 18 players for the tournament.
Maxwell Konadu and his lads finished the final training section on Friday ahead of Ghana’s game against Gambia on Saturday.
At the pre-match conference held at Protea Hotel, Takoradi, after the Black Stars B training section, coach Maxwell Konadu was quizzed on the decision to sit out the versatile player, Justice Blay, whose capabilities might come in handy judging from the number of players demanded for the tournament and whether he’s aware the former Sekondi Eleven Wise and Sekondi Hasaacas player can play as a central and defensive midfielder, rigth back and central defender.
“Justice Blay is a very good player, I know he’s able to play at the center back position, but not the right back position, he didn’t give me any conviction that he can play there.”
“We are playing a tournament with rules that are a bit awkward, we are supposed to submit only 18 players for the tournament.” – Maxwell told the press
