The Western Regional branch of the National Road Safety Authority has extended its appreciation to Spice Fm 91.9, one of Focus One Media platforms in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region of Ghana, for its contribution towards road Safety Campaign in the region.
Spice FM’s much talked about “Nante Yie’’ radio program is a major road Safety Educational Campaign that created awareness and engaged stakeholders in the fight against road accidents especially during the festive season. Listeners had the opportunity to be educated by experts to understand and appreciate the significant role Drivers, Passengers and Pedestrian have to play to ensure sanity on the road.
The Campaign engaged the National Road Safety Commission, MTTU, Organized Commercial driver groups, Red Cross DVLA and Fire Service for a holistic road Safety Education as the nation prepared towards the Christmas in the year 2019. The Campaign was effectively delivered through On-Air (Spice FM), Online (www.spicefmonline.com,all social Media Platforms) and outdoor broadcast.
The National Road Safety also appreciated Spice FM for its participation, dedication and continued support for road safety programs which enable them to make significant progress.
They called on Spice FM 91.9 for support during the election year in a letter that was delivered to the station.
‘‘We are counting on you for more of your Continuous support, passion and commitment during this election year to make the Western Region Road Safety situation better for our collective good’’
The current statistics from the National Road Safety Authority indicate an increased in the total reported accidents from 894 in 2018 to 1143 in 2019 indicating a 27.85 percentage increased in accidents cases in the region which calls for more effort towards dealing with the carnage.
