The Teranga Lions of Senegal needed just a draw against Columbia to progress to the next round of the 2018 FIFA World Cup but Yerry Mina denied them with a second half strike.
James Rodriguez limped off earlier in the first half, the Bayern Munich star limping off gave Senegal a major boost.
Colombia won a corner kick. Senegal made a quick substitution as Mousa Wague came on for Youssouf Sabaly. The ball came in from the right and Mina leaped above everyone to puts the ball into the net to hand Columbia the lead.
Columbia qualified as group leaders with 6 points, followed by Japan with 4 points. Senegal were knocked on the basis of fair play; they received more yellow card ( 6 ) than Japan ( 4 ).
