Sahmudeen Ibrahim – I talk to Don Bortey before every Kotoko game

Accra Hearts of Oak midfielder, Sahmudeen Mohammed has opened up an interesting subject claiming he’s always seen on phone talking to veteran and club legend, Bernard Don Bortey before any game against bitterest rival Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

He reckoned that Bernard Don Bortey has been his source of motivation ever since he found himself at the Rainbow’s Camp – the retired attacker was a key figure in Accra Hearts of Oak’s historic achievement in the 2004 CAF Confederations Cup and also winning the Ghana Premier League on five occasions.

Speaking to host Abednego Abaidoo on the Spice 91.9 FM weekend sports show, the midfielder had this to say – “personally, anytime am in camp for a game against Asante Kotoko, one person I always talk to is Don Bortey, he inspires me with stories of how he toiled for his presence to be felt in those big games.”

Sahmudeen Ibrahim, who turned 20 in January 2017, joined the Ghana Premier League power house from King Solomon FC, after emerging as the best player in the second-tier league two seasons ago.
