Preview: Brazil v Switzerland
Brazil will start their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign against Switzerland at the Rostov Arena this evening.
The Brazilian national team are unbeaten in opening matches at the world cup finals since Italy 1934 and will be hoping to add Switzerland to the tall list of countries to taste defeat against them in their opening game.
Memories of 2010 will ginger Switzerland into the game when they beat eventual winners Spain in their opening game, they remain the only the side to have beaten World Cup champions in their opening match.
Tite has rebuilt an empire which was broken some four years ago at Brazil when they lost by 7-1 against Germany. Brazil has played 21 matches under his belt and lost just once, they were the first South American side to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Facing them will be a durable Swiss side that whas lost just once since early 2016 and only exited UEFA EURO 2016 on penalties. Though they had to go through the play-offs to qualify, Switzerland put together an excellent campaign in the European preliminaries and know what it takes to impress against a big-name team in an opening match, having beaten eventual champions Spain in their first outing at South Africa 2010.
