After 31 years, since the passing of the founder of Krobo, Barima Arko I, the Krobo stool has been without an Odikro (Chief) but carters.
But it was a joyful moment of the Nana Segu Royal Ebiradze (Bentsir) Ebusua of Shama and the entire Korbo land to witness another great historic moment on their land as Nana Okogyeaman Barima Arko III who is known in private life as Evaristus Kweku Kinnah was carried a palanqueen through the old and new Krobo communities amidst chanting of war songs by the Asafo group.
The Chiefs and people in the Shama Traditional area were fully represented in the Nyankrom Queen mother, Nana Akosua Gyamfiaba II, Nana Atta Kakra II of Old Daboase junction, Nana Kweku Nyame II of Lower Shama junction and the Chief of Atwerebonda, Nana Twentwesfo III in the occasion to install Barima Arko III as the Odikro for Krobo Shama
Addressing the gathering after taking the oath of secrecy, Nana Okogyeaman Barima Arko III acknowledged the efforts by the late Omanhene of Shama Traditional Area Nana Kweku Binnah III whose advice and direction has today manifested in this glorious installation.
He noted that Korbo is a community at a cross-roads that needs leapfrogging in terms of infrastructure development.
The Krobo community according to him needs a resettlement plan to deal with the occasional flash-floods and inundations.
Nana Barima Arko III is urging government to consider Korbo as a potential host to at least one processing factory under his flagship one district one factor initiative to help open up the community for development.
“I believe to deal with the myriad of challenges confronting Krobo, there is the need to find the right balance to leverage on her investment and potentials”.
Meanwhile Nana Okogyeaman Barima Arko III is calling on all and sundry to come together and remain united to advance the progress of Krobo.
