A group of journalists in Takoradi has donated items to the wife and children of the late Aminu Mohammed aka Aminu Zylla. The items included five mini bags of rice, yams, two crates of eggs, cooking oil, assorted biscuits, dozens of tin fish and tin tomatoes , a pack of milk and Milo, a pack of toilet soap, a pack of toothpaste, a box of sugar etc.
The presentation was made by Oti-Asirifi Mensah, Kwesi Essel, Kwame Yeboah and Agya Yaw Kyei Baffour on behalf of six other journalists who together, donated to this course. They are Philip Osei Bonsu, Kwame Malcolm, J. M. Caesar, Kofi Asiedu, Abaidoo Abednago and Albert Ababio.
Oti-Asirifi who led the group encouraged the wife and the children to keep their trust in God. He also advised the kids to take their education seriously. Kwame Yeboah said Zylla was a friend and a brother, and that we could not celebrate a new year without extending a hand to his family when he’s no more. On his part, Mr Kwesi Essel assured the family of a regular visits by the group and promised that the group is planning another package at Easter time, taking into account the other kids who are outside Takoradi.
Receiving the items, the wife of the late Aminu Zylla expressed her surprise at the gesture and stated her gratitude for the donation. She said the late husband will be happy to see his friends demonstrate such love amazing especially during a new year when kids and wives look to celebrate with their daddies and husbands respectfully. “Only one or two people has called to check on me and the kids since Zylla died, and I am happy to know that you still think about us, God bless you”, she added.
