Hearts of Oak and Berekum Chelsea win big, Sharks make it four in a row, Ashgold near death

Ghana Premier League week 24 fixtures were cleared over the weekend with the exception of WAFA and Kumasi Asante Kotoko due to the latter’s involvement in a fatal accident which claimed the life of equipment officer, Thomas Asare.

Aduana Stars after failing to snatch a point in their last three away encounters were fortunate this time around at the Tarkwa and Aboso Park.  Host Medeama SC fired blank despite creating numerous chances in both halves of the game. It ended goalless after 90 minutes.

Six games were honored on Sunday. Coach Yaw Acheampong’s Elmina Sharks are now four games victors on a trot.  Center forward Felix Addo scored two goals in a game for the first time this season to hand Shark’s their fourth victory in a row. Amed Toure failed to add to his tally – Sadiq Haji Abubakar had the consolation for Bechem United. 2:1 it ended in favor of the host.

Thomas Abbey having scored from the spot in the first half, curled another to the far left of the net to register Accra Hearts of Oak’s third on the day. In-between was Kwame Kizito’s goal and Joseph Paintsil’s consolation. The Phobians ended the game 3:1 winners.  Abbey with 12 goals is now joint on top of the scorer’s leader board with Amed Toure.

Evans Obeng scored two goals, Stephen Sarfo took his tally for the season to 11 and Karim Abedi added the fourth as Berekum Chelsea secured the heaviest away victory in the 2016-17 Ghana Premier League over stuck at the bottom Bolga All Stars.

Other results saw Liberty Professionals secure vital solitary goal over Ashantigold SC, Great Olympics Bernard Arthur scored the only goal against Inter Allies away at the El Wak Park.
