Coach Karim Zito, head coach of Dreams Football Club has called on the management and technical team of the Black Stars not to set sight on winning the 2019 AFCON trophy a top priority, but they should focus on building a strong and formidable team for 2022.
The Dreams FC head coach said to Abaidoo Abednego on the, Spice Evening Sports that Ghana boast of talents across the globe, so the technical team should focus on building an entirely new team and target AFCON 2022.
‘Lets build a team for 2022 AFCON, that’s how it’s supposed to be, we will play every AFCON but we have to build a team and by the time we will reach that time, we will have a formidable team.’
‘There are lot of Ghanaian players out there, when i went to Germany for instance, i saw one striker who was playing in a friendly game between Bayern Munich and Greuther Furt, the team i went to visit, the boy was just good, i even said i would have recommended him for some of our youth teams if i knew his age.’
Karim Zito then urged the nation to send scouts across the world to monitor Ghanaian players abroad.
‘We have players all around the globe, so we have to take our time, go around and scouts all of them for the national team, if not, we will always talk but achieve nothing.’
Ghana last won an AFCON trophy in 1982, its fourth, and has since then struggled to land another one.
