Board Member for Tarkwa based Ghana Premier League outfit, Dr Toni Aubynn has disclosed that his unpopularity among delegates of the GFA was the reason why he rescinded his decision to contest for the vacant Ghana Football Association Presidential seat.
The Former Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Minerals Commission showed interest in contesting for the vacant position but said he got to realize his chances of winning was slim after consultations with some of the clubs.
Speaking to Spice 91.9 FM, Dr Toni Aubyyn added that he is a passionate football fan and will be vying for a position on the executive council.
“I had calls from some people after the just ended extraordinary congress to contest for the vacant GFA Presidential seat.
I did my background checks and found out that it will be difficult to win because I wasn’t popular within the delegates.
“I then took a strategic decision after praying that I will contest for the executive Council position” he said in an interview with Spice 91.9 FM
Dr Toni Aubynn played a vital role in helping the Black Stars secure a sponsorship from Goldfields Ghana Limited in 2006.
