Residents of Tarkwa in the Western Region have blocked the main entries to Tarkwa on the main Tarkwa – Takoradi road to protest the deplorable state of the road from Tarkwa-Ahietieso to Bogoso Junction.
Our reporter Benjamin Bray reports that the road was blocked at exactly 5;00am Wednesday.
For every 250 meters on the stretch, residents have mounted a barrier and are burning vehicle tyres, a situation that has prevented vehicles from moving from both sides of the road.
This situation has caused gridlock on the road. The protesters told spicefmonline.com that until they hear any plans to contact the road in the next few days, they have vowed not to remove the barriers to traffic.
According to the secretary of the Concerned Residents of Tarkwa, Samuel Kwesi Asare, they have given the government two-weeks to fix the road or they will roll out other plans that will have a dying consequence on the government.
