The Municipal Chief Executive, for Effia-Kwesimintsim Kojo Acquah has stated that the Assembly with support from government is going to tackle all flood-prone areas within the Municipality starting with the construction of storm drain (culverts) on the Serrano Avenue at Effia No 1 close to the Integrated Social Centre.
The project which is being funded by Agence Francaise de De’veloppement under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, facilitated by Ghana Urban Management Pilot Programme (GUMPP) is expected to be completed in three months precisely on the 5th Day of May 2019 by Richtech Company Limited.
According to the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive Officer, Kojo Acquah research available the them has shown that EKMA has the lowest points in the Western Region meaning the Municipality is located in Flood-Prone Zone.
“It is the decision of the NPP Government, led by H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo, that all those flood prone areas in the Municipality are provided with proper drainage systems to improve the lives of the people within these catchment areas,”
Director for Richtech Company Limited, Mr. Richard Ocran told SpiceNews’ Kojo Ennimil Arthur that specifically with this project there will be the a “construction of a 600mm U-Drain with Slab, 70m, 1.5mX1.5m Storm Drain, 40m and 1.5mX2.0m Double Cell Box Culvert 12m.”
Excited about the project Mr Ocran promised to deliver his best since his company has been giving the opportunity to serve in this capacity.
Apart from this very project the other drainage project officials at the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly hinted Spicefmonline.com that they would be upgrading the Whindo main road as well as the Mrs Cudjoe Crescent and also replace culverts at I. Adu, CDH Road, Cocoa Villa, Apollo and Cyndy’s Cottage.
