Tullow Ghana to embark on capacity building for journalist in 2019

Tullow Ghana is to embark on a capacity building in oil and gas for the media in 2019. This according to the Director for External Affairs, Social Performance and Local Content, Cynthia Lumor will keep the media abreast of issues pertaining to the oil and gas industry and enhance their ability to interrogate issues in the sector for the benefit of the public.

Mrs Lumor called for effective collaboration between the oil and gas industry and the media to better understand and appreciate how the industry operates Mrs. Lumor was speaking at a media engagement in Takoradi on the Journey So Far; From Exploration to Production for the Tullow Ghana Limited.

She said the company’s twelve years’ existence in the country has brought about a major face lift in the oil and gas industry in the country. Tullow, a member of the Jubilee Partners spearheaded the discovery of oil in commercial quantities in the country and currently operates the TEN fields.

Mrs. Lumor said it is the company’s desire to obtain new exploration licenses to explore more oil in the country to ensure long term stability of its operations.

She said the company, in its quests to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country takes its legal and corporate responsibilities seriously by ensuring the prompt and regular payment of production entitlements and royalties to government, provide gas to the Ghana Gas company, award contracts to Ghanaian companies under the local content policy among others. She also used the opportunity to appeal to Ghanaians to let occupational health and general safety be a part of their lives to avoid preventable accidents and incidents.
