AUDIO: Govt. to redevelop all heritage sites in Ghana – Hon. Catherine Afeku

The Tourism Minister however mentioned that Fort St. Antonio in Axim, which is the second oldest fort in Ghana and other heritage sites in Winneba, Gomoa Asin, Asin Manso and other sites in the tourism enclaves are to benefit from the redesigning projects.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

She indicated that the project will be financed by the Tourism Levy Fund.

The Minister also indicated that the move is aimed at ending open defecation and urination at the heritage sites to maintain the beauty of the sites.

Town Hall Meetings are designed to provide platforms for local and international politicians as well as Members of Parliament to meet their constituents to discuss developmental and other issues related to the well-being of the people.

Town Hall Meetings are also designed that government would be brought to the doorstep of the people to get feedback from the citizenry on issues concerning them.

It is a decentralized means of giving the citizens and opinion leaders of the various communities nationwide the opportunity to get together to discuss the progress and emerging issues both the central and the local government.

The Town Hall Meetings are in line with the Sustainable Goals 16 and 17.

The Municipal Chief Executive of the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Frank Okpenyen appealed to the traditional leaders who are custodians of the land to help the committee on illegal mining in the fight against galamsey in the municipality and the country at large.

He added that galamsey activities pose security threat to the nation and it must be stopped to safeguard the safety of Ghana.
