A man believe to be in his late 30s who only gave his name as Samuel is in the grips of the Ellembele District Police command for attempting to sell his 10 year old son for one hundred thousand Ghana cedis [GHC100,000].
Mr. Alex Mahama who is the NDC Constituency Chairman for the Ellembele Constituency and also the Assembly Member for Awiebo Electoral Area told Spice News Reporter Michael Adomako in an exclusive interview that he posed as a buyer to help the police arrest the suspect and his accomplice upon a tip-off from a friend.
He explained the suspect was ready to sell his son to anybody who can buy to enable him get money for some business.Mr. Mahama therefore informed the police at Anyinase where he was given one officer to help arrest Samuel.
According to Mr. Mahama, they quickly called the suspect on Saturday evening to arrange for a meeting where they finally agreed and met at Melvina Lodge hotel in Anyinase on Sunday.
“After bargaining for several minutes on the proposed GHC100,000 quotation from Samuel the boy’s father, they finally settled on paying GHC 60,000. It was then, the suspects went home and brought the innocent child to collect his money”, he said.
The police was quick to arrest the suspects in the hotel.
Currently, the suspect and his accomplice have been reminded in the police custody pending further investigations.
