“There is no Dancehall King in Ghana” – KIAANI

Afro beat dancehall artist, Stephen Kofi Annan known in showbiz as Kiaani has join the likes of Kwabena, Kwabena in their assertion that there’s no dancehall king in Ghana.

According to Kiaani all those who parade themselves as dancehall artist in the country are just living in fools-paradise since what they are calling dancehall is in vast contradiction to the real dancehall music as defined by the Jamaicans where dancehall music originates from.

Speaking to your girlfriend’s favorite man, Yoofi Eyeson on the “Ofie Ni Fie” show, the upcoming afro beats dancehall artist Kiaani said its funny when people call themselves names; claiming titles they don’t deserve because in Ghana, no one is doing real dancehall. He said Stonebwoy, Shattawale and the likes are all doing afro beats.

“No one has been crowned a dancehall king in Ghana, so when you profess with your mouth that you are a dancehall king and your works do not portray so you are just deceiving yourself; In Ghana, no one is really doing dancehall”.

He explained that, it’s not the patoa language that makes a song or an artist a dancehall artist but the beats and the style of the music.

“Dancehall can be done in Twi provided you get the real dancehall beats and style on point”.

The upcoming Afro beats dancehall artist believes the Ghanaian music industry is not difficult to break through at all as perceived by others. “Just that some DJ’s are saboteurs, they are not ready to support upcoming artists because he is already supporting some big artists so to say,” he told Yoofi Eyeson in an interview.

Though Ghana, is noted for its highlife music and the recent Afro beats Kiaani mentioned that his passion for music and his abilities has located him in the kind of music he does. “Since the world is changing with time I choose to stay with the new school”, he added.

Kiaani who is currently under KOPRIS Records Ent is out with a new single dubbed “For Better for Worse” after his widely place maiden single “Ame Nye Wo” meaning you cannot compete with us.
