Disgruntled Fishermen, fish mongers and boat owners at the Albert Bosomtwi Sam Fishing Harbor in Sekondi have demonstrated against the managers of the facility for deciding to fenced the administration block.
According to the fisher folks, this is a well thought through plan by the administrators of the Albert Bosomtwi Sam Fishing Harbor to kick them out of business.
They lament that, the perimeter between the administration block and the break water where the fishing vessels comes to berth after their fishing expedition does not have enough space to accommodate the fence wall they have planned to construct.
With anger the aggrieved fisher-folks chanting war songs destroyed the aluminum roofing sheets authorities at the Albert Bosomtwi Sam Fishing Harbor have used to fence the administration block temporally.
Meanwhile, Mr. Peter Amo Bediako who is the Head of Marketing and Public Affairs at Ghana Port and Harbors Authority (GPHA) in Takoradi told pressmen after a closed-door meeting with leadership of the Fisher folks including boat owners and the Chief Fisherman for Sekondi that, the concerns expressed by the fisher folks have been taken into consideration and all parties involved in the situation have reached a consensus on the matter. Though he was unable to disclose the exact decision they have taken, Mr. Bediako was hopeful peace will prevail at the fishing harbor as it used to be.
