The Dixcove Sea Defense Wall Project in the Ahanta West Municipality of the Western Region would suffer some delay due to challenges the Construction firm; Rajga Limited is experiencing in mobilizing rock deposits for the project.

The construction of the sea defense wall which includes a breakwater to serve as a port for the fisherfolk has a length of 2.4km and would cost a total GH134 million.

In a presentation on the project to the President and his delegation at the project site, the project consultant, Hubert Owusu Ansah hinted the company is having difficulty locating quarry sites with strong rock deposits that meet specification for the construction of a strong rock bed along the coast.

He however, attributed the situation to their inability in securing license to mine rocks for the project. He laments the circumstances had compelled them to seek an extension to complete the project.

Meanwhile the Chiefs and people of Lower and Upper Dixcove have expressed hopes in the constructor and the commitment government has exhibited to see this project completed in record time.

Speaking to spicefmonline, the Chief of Lower Dixcove, Nana Akwesi Agyemen mentioned that the President has shown strong will to fulfill his promises and “Dixcove is equally benefiting from that as the President promised us when he came soliciting for their vote to be president”.

He said tidal waves has destroyed most properties along the coast and Dixcove is not an exception. The sea defense wall according to him will save the community from feather destruction from the sea.
