Residents of Ituma in the Shama District are vehemently protesting the siting of a public toilet facility in the heart of the community.
Narrating their ordeal to Spice FM reporter Benjamin Bray, residents hinted that they are in full support for the construction of a public Toilet in the Ituma community because every since the only public toilet in the town was demolish some twelve years ago indiscriminate dislodging of human excretory has been the order of the day in the community.
Nana Eku II who is the Queen Mother for Ituma, told our reporter that the traditional authorities have giving a land to the assembly for the construction of the new public toilet but the assembly said they cannot build on that land because they said “there is much water in the land”.
She however stated that they are expecting authorities from the Shama District Assembly to come sit with them to decide on the next step only for them to see the contractor and his men on site working.
For a fast developing community like Ituma with a growing population of about 6,320, there is no public toilet facility for it residents.
