DCE LEADS OPERATION TO FLASH OUT ILLEGAL MINERS ON RIVER PRA

Illegal miner still operating on the Pra River were yesterday, March 8, 2018 chased out of the river body by a joint police team in Daboase led by the Wassa East DCE, Wilson Arthur.

At about 5:30pm yesterday, Sup. Mr. Richard Gyedi, the Wassa East District Police Commander at Daboase with eleven security personal including BNI Officers embarked on an operation to flash out some illegal miners operating on the Pra River at Otodum stretch with the assistance of some local volunteers.

The team tracked the sound of their machines to their hide out on the river bank but on seeing police, the illegal miners dived into the river and absconded but their ten chanfang machines mounted on boats were destroyed.

According to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Wilson Arthur plans have been designed in collaboration with the local volunteers to sustain the operation in the coming weeks adding that no unusual occurrence was recorded.
