The Sekondi – Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly is spending a total of two hundred thousand cedis in the ongoing decongestion exercise to sanitize the metropolis.
Mayor Anthony K.K Sam in a media interaction revealed that the amount was approved by the general assembly for both the first and second phase of the ongoing decongestion exercise.
The second phase of the ongoing decongestion exercise which started on Tuesday, 16th January, 2018 is focusing on persons selling at various unauthorized places in all the five sub – metros making the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly.
In a quick rebatal to the public out carry on the sustainability of the decongestion exercise since its been happing in the last 20 years, the Mayor of Sekondi – Takoradi Mr. K.K Sam said under his watch he has outlined measures to sustain sanity in the metropolis.
He was however quick to admit that the assembly is yet to ascertain the actual cost they will incur for the whole exercise, he will not sit for GHC200, 000 budget approved for the exercise to go waste.
“At this material moment we cannot give the exact cost we will incur for the whole exercise. The amount I mentioned is what the assembly has approved to enable us start the exercise. So that amount may remain the same or could go up depending on what will happen.”
According to him, the assembly will continuously deploy the services of the assembly’s metro guards for periodic patrols in the metropolis especially the Central Business District (CBD) to make sure the traders comply with the Assemblies bye-laws.
