1st Phase of Effia Nkwanta-Fijai Road To Be Completed Jan 14, 2019 – Asabea Engineering and Construction

Chief Executive Officer for Asabea Engineering and Construction Limited Mr Samuel Ofori Larbi has emphatically stated that government has not released funds for the Effia-Nkwanta-Fijai dual carriage road which is currently under construction.

According to Mr Larbi since 2016 the contract was awarded to his company they have raised three clams totaling about twelve million Ghana cedis yet not a diem has been paid to Asabea Engineering.

“It is out of frustration the love for the people of Takoradi that I have on my own raised some money to complete the road”

“See that road is the most important road in Sekondi-Takoradi, the regional Fire Station can be found on that road, Effia-Nkwanta Regional hospital is there and that is the most convenient road for Ambulance Service to the regional hospital so I understand when residents of Takoradi are on a daily based calling radio stations to insult me but its not my fault; I had to abandon the work because there was no commitment from central government to be paying me now even if I take a loan but now I have the mandated to carry on that is why I have gone for a loan to construct the road”, he added.

He mentioned that the first phase of the entire project will be completed on Monday, January 14th 2019 which will be followed up by the construction of the drains and walkways along the road.

The CEO for Asabea Engineering and Construction Limited Samuel Larbi popularly know as “ASABEA” however contends that the parking of haulage trucks and other container vehicles on the shoulders of the road by the operators of the warehouses along the said road could damage the asphalted road and thus result in increased cost of maintenance of the road.

“I don’t know how STMA give them permit to construct a warehouse along the road. With all these problems I blame STMA. You cannot park all these long trailers on the road; the road is a dual carriage way so they should be relocated as soon as possible” Mr Larbi noted.

In an exclusive interview with Kojo Ennimil Arthur, the contractor assured residents in the metropolis of completing within the stipulated time whiles he ensure value for money.
